Jennifer Caie, Autumn Sunlight, 2020
Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, 30”x24”
"The cool temperatures of fall make it the best time for hiking. Ontario’s out-of-the-way places have turned to reds and yellows, presenting a glorious show. This painting captures the ebb and flow of the landscape in autumn, when you can feel the heat of the day and the coolness in the air all at once. The blowing leaves, the icy water, and the bright light, all look as though they are drifting out to sea. The power of this work comes from the treatment of colour: the contrast between the rich foliage and cool land. There’s a shiver in the air, and the breathtaking brilliance of gold connects us to Autumn."
