Jennifer Caie, Water’s Ways, 2019
Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, 18”x 36”
"In my explorations of the landscapes around me, I often find myself hopping from rock to rock and not knowing when to stop. Sometimes I’m right in the middle of the rapids, searching to find the stepping stones. This painting was inspired by the stream that runs from Mavis Lake to Ghost Lake, a local treasure we simply call The Falls. Here, I was peering through an overhanging branch while balancing on a rock.
The scene uses pastel colours and a strong directional flow to indicate sky, wind, and water. There is no line of horizon. All time and place is forgotten."
